September Report
The first annual WL fishing tournament was a tremendous
success. Several trophies and prizes were awarded. The
tournament raised over $3, 000. The money will be used to
stock the lakes. Coming soon to the website and
newsletter: Tips on how to catch the "big one",
information on monthly fishing leagues and other
pertinent lake information. Please contact the committee
if you happen to see non-residents fishing, anyone
keeping their catch, or about any other lake matter.
It looks like some female ducks have mysteriously arrived
in Windermere. I am not sure how they got here, but it
sure has helped out female to male ratio. We still need
more females and the only place I have found to get some
are in Northern Missouri. Anyone that knows where we can
get some female Mallards, please let us know. Or, anyone
traveling to Northern Missouri and would like some female
Mallards as riding companions please let me know.

Objectives
Committee Objectives
The Lakes Committee was established to oversee and
monitor the condition and maintenance of the neighborhood
lakes and their contents. The enforcement of lake rules
and the promotion of lakeside functions that contribute
to property values and the resident lifestyles.
Priorities include:
Performing Monthly lakeside deed restriction runs.
Enforcing catch-and-release fishing. Making sure we do
not have non-residents fishing in our lakes. Search and
rescue operations. The committee has scuba equipment and
boats ready available in the event of emergencies. I.E.
Pets in the lakes, items or people that have fallen into
the lake etc.. Fielding calls from residents concerning
fishing. I.E. How to catch fish, whats the best
bait or lures etc.. Monitor fish populations and the
general health of the fish.
Monitoring
of the water fountains and water falls include:
Make
sure the fountains come on and go off at the
proper times.
Make
sure the lights are working at the base of the
fountains.
Current
operating times are from 8:30am to 1100pm.
Making
sure the water falls are running.
Operate
water well in a manual mode when rain is in the forecast.
We have saved aprox $300.00 to $400.00 per month
operating in this mode. Make sure that all of the
equalizing pipes that connect the lakes are not
restricted. Make sure the over flow pipes are not clogged
up that empty the water out of the lakes into the East
Bayou when the lakes are full. Organize the annual
fishing tournament.
Monitor
Ducks Populations by:
Makng
sure there are adequate amount of duck ramps for
the baby ducks to get in and out of the water.
Educating
residents on ways to feed the ducks. Also advise
them not to eat them or let their pets eat them.
Monitoring
ducks populations and make sure we have the
proper male to female ratio. (1 male to 3
females)
Liaison to
"Lake Pro Pond Management Services".
Monitor
fountain repairs and maintenance
Monitor
chemical distribution for different aquatic
vegetation.
Monitor
trash pick up out of the lakes.
Looking
Ahead:
The Lake Committee is implementing a monthly fun-fishing
league to be held on a weekend evening where the
residents put up a small entry fee for Bass division and
Catfish Division and the winner takes the pot. We are
going to start a fish tagging program so that we can
monitor the growth rate and migratory habits of our fish.
We had a above average catfish spawn this year.
We are also
going to make spawning beds for the bass. The bass need
aprox. 2 feet of water with a gravel sandy bottom to
spawn in. We will continue to sink Christmas Trees after
Christmas season for structure for the fish to hide
around. We sunk aprox. 150 trees last year.
Have a
representative attend the monthly HOA general meeting.
